1. Overview

howlongdoes.app ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at https://howlongdoes.app. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it. We are committed to handling your data lawfully and transparently.

This site contains no user registration, no login system, and no user-generated content beyond optional contact form submissions. The vast majority of visitors use the site without providing any personal information at all.

2. Information we collect

2a. Automatically collected data — Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used. GA4 automatically collects information such as your approximate location (country/region level), browser type, device type, pages visited, and how long you spent on the site. This data is aggregated and used only to improve the site.

GA4 does not tell us who you are. It assigns an anonymous identifier to your browser session. We do not cross-reference analytics data with any other source. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2b. Automatically collected data — Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads that may be relevant to your interests based on your browsing history across websites. This is known as interest-based advertising.

Google AdSense may collect data including your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing behaviour. We do not control how Google uses this data for advertising purposes. You can review Google's advertising privacy practices and opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.

We participate in Google's GDPR and CCPA consent messaging where required. If you are located in the EU, EEA, UK, or a state with applicable privacy laws, you may be presented with a consent prompt before personalised advertising loads.

2c. Information you provide — Contact form

The contact form on our Contact page is powered by Formspree. When you submit the form, the data you enter (your message, subject, optional state and tool reference, and optional email address) is transmitted to Formspree and delivered to us by email. We do not store form submissions on our own servers.

We use contact form submissions only to respond to your message and to investigate and correct data errors you report. We do not use your contact information for marketing. We do not share it with third parties.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Formspree), which are third-party services with their own privacy policies.

5. Data retention

Analytics data in GA4 is retained for 14 months by default. Contact form submissions received by us are deleted when no longer needed. Formspree retains submission data per their own policy.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to certain types of processing. Because we collect very little personal data directly, most requests will relate to third-party services (Google, Formspree) which have their own processes for handling such requests.

If you have submitted a contact form and wish to have that submission deleted, please contact us again using the same form and we will delete the record.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

This site is served exclusively over HTTPS. The .app top-level domain enforces HTTPS at the registry level. We do not process or store payment information. No user accounts or passwords exist on this site.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
